Daystar Academy develops bilingual, bicultural world citizens who will make a positive impact in their communities–and beyond. To achieve this ambitious goal, it's essential to nurture the whole child.
Grades One-Five (Sanlitun & Beigao Campuses)*
At Daystar Academy, we combine several powerful pedagogies. We begin with a foundation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program's (PYP) five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and action. We then add our own character-development curriculum that integrates IB Learner Profile attributes with Chinese virtues. And finally, we use a balanced, rigorous academic program grounded in both the Chinese National Curriculum (Chinese and Math) and U.S. Common Core Standards (English).
Through it all, Daystar Academy students ask questions, take action, and reflect on their learning and its relationship to the wider world. They actively engage in structured, in-depth inquiry into the PYP's six transdisciplinary themes and Daystar Academy's proprietary Units of inquiry (UOI) that address distinct central ideas, all of which are globally significant, standards-based, and academically rigorous.
